Microsoft Fabric: The Medallion Architecture with a Star Schema
Manikandan Palanivel
Skillsoft issued completion badges are earned based on viewing the percentage required or receiving a passing score when assessment is required. The medallion architecture, which features bronze, silver, and gold layers, is a data organization approach and an important part of Microsoft Fabric and the DP-600 certification test. In this course, learn how the bronze layer stores raw data, the silver layer holds cleaned and transformed data, and the gold layer is for business-ready reporting and analytics.
Begin by implementing the bronze layer. Create code for incremental data processing, perform data cleaning, and use merge and upsert operations with Spark Delta tables to load data into the Silver layer. Next, prepare the gold layer by using fact and dimension tables within a star schema. Transform silver layer data into the gold layer and create a semantic model that defines relationships between tables for use in Power BI reports. Finally, explore partitioning and table maintenance techniques and study the use of features like optimize, v-order, and vacuum.
This course is part of a series that prepares learners for Exam DP-600: Implementing Analytics Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric.
